The original Kanger Pro Tank "glassomizer" was an immediate hit, but not without a few complaints, the chief two being the inability to change tips (Not everyone likes metal tips) and the very airy draw...too airy for some.
Kanger went back to the drawing board and introduced the Kanger Pro Tank 2 (PT2)...did they meet their goals?
I purchased the PT2 from Hurricane Vapors for $19.95 while making an ejuice buy. OK price, but not stellar. The PT2 came in a cardboard box, similar to the PTM2, not as flashy, but a sensible package proprely protecting the tank. Works for me as I see no reason to spend part of the cost on a fancy padded box for a tank that probably will never see the inside of the box again.
Opening the box there was the tank itself, complete but without a coil installed, 2 2.5ohm coils, a plinth, or beauty ring same as the original pro tank, and instruction manual with a recommended voltage per resistance chart.
As with the original, the PT2 is a bottom coil style, pyrex tank (safe from tank-cracker ejuices), with chromed brass base and top collar and tip. It also is a 2.5ml rated capacity.
The differences begins with it having a removable/replaceable tip, a base with smaller air holes for a tighter draw, and it completely dis assembles...the bottom collar unscrews from the air tube, releasing the pyrex body entirely. So the PT2 is construced entirely without glue, unlike the PT original. This results in even easier cleaning than the original, plus if you ever break the glass, it can be replaced. Also right from the start it imparted no unwanted taste to the ejuice.
The PT2 certainly is a good looking, well constructed tank, and looks great on my SID, Evic, and MVP. The PT2 fit all my mods well with no surprises.
To use the PT2, screw in a coil to the base, holding the tank upside down drip in your ejuice down the side, avoiding the center tube. Screw on the base and you are ready to vape!
As with all the pro tank coils, I first removed one of the 2 top flavor wicks for smoother wicking and better hit.
With the same coils that are used in several Kanger bottom coil clearos such as the Evod, PT1, T3S, and Pro Tank Mini 2, the overall vape is quite similar, however, with the reduced air hole size, the draw is just slightly tightened up...to me, just about perfect. The flavors come out very clean with good vapor, a typically cool vape as is common with bottom coil tanks. Although the PT2 performs best when "topped off", I could comfortably vape the tank down to the bottom third without any gurgling or missed hits, but as the level drops, the hit does lessen as in most tanks whether bottom or top coil..
While I am perfectly at ease with the included chromed tip, it is nice to have the option of adding any third party 510 style tip and my derlin rotating tip fit just fine.
All in all, the original PT was a favorite of mine and the PT2 is better still. Even the strongest of ejuice flavors clean out easily with no residual taste when swapping flavors, and it is a durable, well built tank, with no glue used in its construction. Replaceable tip, better draw, and complete dis assembly while retaining all the good features of the original? Got to be a winner!
